Solange’s Bio: A Journey from Darkness to Light
Less than two years ago, I found myself at a crossroads. Living with my mom, working three jobs to make ends meet, and feeling the weight of uncertainty in my dance career, life seemed like an endless struggle. The impact of COVID-19, lockdowns, and the influx of new dancers on social media made the industry more competitive than ever. Torn between pursuing dance, teaching Pilates, or starting anew, I felt lost and directionless.
A moment of introspection during uncertain times.
My personal life was no better. After years of failed relationships and dating disappointments, I longed for a meaningful connection but felt it was out of reach. Gaining 20 lbs in the summer of 2021 further eroded my self-esteem, leaving me unrecognizable and detached from my sense of self. The weight of these struggles drove me to a breaking point, questioning the value of my existence and feeling trapped in a cycle of mere survival.
I even hit a point where I felt like life was no longer worth living, I found no value or purpose in continuously living a life of struggle (which I ultimately created -and I’ll touch more on this in a future post). I was just sick and tired of being sick and tired, and overworking myself just to get a paycheck that paid the bills and kept me just surviving. It was during one of my lowest points in 2021, where I had a soul awakening (and Kundalini awakening, for those of you who may know, but if not, don’t worry I will write a future blog post about that time in my life and my experience).
Embracing meditation as a tool for transformation.
On my own in 2020, I started my awakening through the exploration and use of tarot cards. Through that discovery process, I became enthralled with what the cards told me, and the ways I was able to reflect on my own experience. It was not until after I gave my first reading (to my roommate at the time), that I highlighted my natural gift of helping other clarify areas of their life.
Some of the biggest changes I made in my life after incorporating these new practices, are as follows:
I stopped focusing on what I didn’t have and started focusing on the things I wanted
I prioritized fitness; committing to more Pilates training and eating healthier
I reached out to people and finally asked for help when I needed it, instead of doing everything by myself like I used to
I meditated more frequently and created a devotional practice that helped me accelerate my spiritual growth
Magic was stirring in my life and I could see the results of what I yielded through different mindfulness practices. I had a calling and decided to follow it. Already on a journey of self-discovery through tarot cards, I realized my gift for helping others clarify their lives. Embracing new practices, I shifted my focus to the positive aspects of life, prioritized fitness, sought help when needed, and deepened my spiritual practice. This dedication led to an opportunity to pursue a Master's in Environment and Sustainability Management at Georgetown University, opening doors to a new future.
Celebrating a milestone at Georgetown University.
Last year, 2023, I graduated from my Master’s program, top of my class with a 3.9 GPA, proving to myself that I was capable of achieving anything I truly put my mind and heart into. I also landed the job of my dreams working on advancing clean energy initiatives in the Caribbean.
Working towards a sustainable future in the Caribbean.
During that transitionary period I also met the love of my life and my partner who I have now been in a relationship with for two years and I couldn't be happier. Life just has a funny way of switching around when you change what you put energy into and really focus your attention on the things you want.

My story is a testament to the power of transformation and the importance of finding balance, purpose, and sustainability. I hope to inspire others to recognize and address imbalances in their lives, empowering them to create meaningful change and achieve their own sense of freedom and fulfillment.
I encourage you to share your journey in the comments or on social media. Highlight a moment of vulnerability and growth. If you're not ready to share publicly, feel free to email me personally. The door is always open.
Till next time, with love,
